Shortsightedness With shortsightedness you can see close objects clearly, but distant objects are blurred. This is due to the rays of light coming together in front of the retina instead of on the retina. This results in a blurred image. Shortsightedness can be corrected with a minus prescription. A nearsighted person that wants to function without glasses or contact lenses can have an ARTISAN® or ARTIFLEX® lens implantation. Other surgical procedures for replacing glasses are also an option.
