Ophtec BV manufactures and sells ophthalmic products, meant for different ophthalmic areas:

• Cataract surgery

• Trauma surgery

• Refractive surgery

The major part of the products made by Ophtec BV are implantable artificial lenses meant for cataract. These lenses replace the natural, opaque lens.

Trauma surgery (damaged eye)

In some specific problem cases implantable lenses can be custom made for the individual patient. This is for people who have all or part of their iris missing (the colored part of the eye). This is caused either by an accident (trauma) or because of conginetal reasons. With the aid of colored materials the missing parts of the iris are restored in order to give back the function of diaphragm of the iris.

This is highly specialize product, that is manufactured in close collaboration with the surgeon.

Refractive surgery (near- and farsightedness)

In case of near- and farsightedness you have the Artisan lens option. This implantable lens is used when laser treatment is not possible or not preferable. It’s a unique patented product made by Ophtec only.
